Ernie Wetherbee Becomes First Director of RD’s Multifamily Housing Field Operation Division

Today, Rural Development (RD) announced that, effective August 17, 2020, Ernie Wetherbee will become the first Director of RD’s Multifamily Housing’s new Field Operations Division. Mr. Wetherbee has extensive leadership experience at RD, including 11 years implementing Rural Housing programs in the field, which makes him uniquely qualified to take on this new position.

According to the announcement, Mr. Wetherbee will provide leadership to regional servicing teams throughout the country to ensure the availability of safe and affordable multifamily housing in rural America. He will oversee four Regional Directors of Field Operations in the Northeast, Midwest, South, and West regions comprised of servicing teams with over 300 multifamily housing servicing staff.

The Field Operations Division was created as part of the Multifamily Housing organizational realignment, which will improve customer service delivery, create consistency in program implementation and improve oversight of the built portfolio though the use of modern-day risk-based servicing tools.
